Timeline Covers FAQ
How do I activate the Timeline feature?
If you don't have the Timeline feature activated, please visit the Introducing Timeline page and click the "Get Timeline" button found at the bottom of that page. If you do not see this button, you probably have to wait until everyone is automatically switched over to Timeline, which will happen any day now.
Can I preview covers as it would appear on my Timeline?
As you browse the app, you will see page after page of Timeline Covers , all in thumbnail version. To see what the full-sized version of a Cover would look like on your Timeline, hover your mouse over the Cover thumbnail and click the "Preview" button when it appears. The Cover will fill the top title area for you to preview.
How do I choose a Cover?
The simplest way to do that is to hover your mouse over the one you want and click the "Choose" button when it appears. The Cover photo will be sent to your Facebook account within seconds. The Cover will automatically be placed in a photo album entitled "Timeline Covers Photos" in your account. (You won't need to view the album unless you want to empty or delete the album at a later time.)
After choosing a Cover from this app, you would still need to go to your Timeline and install the Cover. While viewing your Timeline, click the Add Cover button to the right of your profile picture. If you already have a Cover, you would click the Change Cover button that appears when you hover over the old Cover. Then you will select "Choose from photos" from the menu that pops up. A collection of recently uploaded pictures will be shown to you, and the new Timeline Cover should be the first picture in this collection. Click that picture and your Timeline Cover will be installed. Click "Save Changes" to complete the process.
How do I personalize a Cover?
Sometimes, you just want to be unique, so we offer you a way to personalize many of the Covers found here. When you hover over the Cover thumbnail, if a Personalize button appears, that means you can add or change the text on the Cover. Click that button and the Cover photo will fill the preview area at the top of the page, along with an editor right below it. Type in some new text, like your name or "Welcome to My Timeline" or anything you want. Adjust the font size if needed. Click "Use as Cover" when you're done, and the Cover will be sent to your Facebook account and placed in an album called "Timeline Covers Photos". Remember to go to your Timeline and add the new Cover to your Timeline.
How do I share a Cover with friends?
If you think that your friends would like to use a particular Timeline Cover for themselves, you can share it with them. Hover your mouse over a Cover thumbnail to make the Share button appear. Click it, and a link to that Timeline Cover will be inserted into a Facebook message that you could send to any number of Facebook friends. We're sure they'll love it.
How do I make a Cover with my facebook photos?
We have two tools to do this. One is "Create Cover" and the other is "Collage Cover", and they are located near the title area. With "Create Cover", the app simply allows you to add text to one of your Facebook photos that you choose. There are a variety of fonts and font styles. With "Collage Cover", you pick a theme and then pick one or more of your Facebook photo albums, and the app will automatically organize photos in a collage that you could use as a Cover. The selection of photos is random, so make a new photo album and add your favorite pictures to it to make sure that only the photos you love will appear in the collage cover. Click "Use as Cover" when finished so that the Cover will be sent to your Facebook account. Go to your Timeline and click Add Cover to use it.
